Who We Are

The Webster County Humane Society consists entirely of volunteers, committed to ending the needless suffering of homeless animals. For every one person born in the U. S . there are 15 dogs, and 45 cats born. There are just not enough homes to go around.

Our main objective at this time is our Spay and Neuter Program, as we feel that this is the only lasting solution to pet overpopulation. We subsidize 50% of this cost for low income households in our area. If you need assistance, please contact us.

We strive to educate our children and the general public in responsible pet ownership by articles, advertising and by placing materials in our schools.

We do limited rescue at this time, because we do not have enough foster homes for our rescued animals, with only two active at this time. We operate solely on donations and fundraisers. We are working in conjunction with our county commission to build a county shelter to house lost and homeless animals and find homes for those pets who are adoptable.

We need your help. We need more foster homes, volunteers, cleaning supplies, food, towels, blankets, food dishes, toys, litter boxes, litter, water buckets. And we need cash. I know it sounds like the old cliché’, but cash helps buy spays and neuters, medicine, vaccines, special needs. We need drivers, to get pets to appointments at our vet’s office in Summersville.

If you belong to a youth group, church group, school group, and want to help, contact us - you will get tail wags and kisses (wet ones) from all our pets, and a great feeling of helping.

Foster homes save lives. If you can. please open your home and heart to a foster pet, they need a safe place to stay while they are waiting for their new family. They need love, and sometimes training, but mostly, love.

Do you have a talent, a skill? We need dog houses built, fence put up for kennels, dogs washed & brushed, arts and crafts made to sell. Love to bake? We would love to have a bake sale. Have extra yard sale items? We will arrange to pick them up. (We must sadly limit the amount of clothing we can take, but any other items are welcome.)

Our Mission Statement

1. The Webster County Humane Society will be non-profit, staffed by volunteers, and funded by donations from the public, and fundraisers.
2. The Webster County Humane Society will provide education to our citizens on the benefits of spaying and neutering, humane pet care, safety around animals of all kinds, and responsible pet ownership.
3. The Webster County Humane Society will try to reduce the number of homeless pets in our county by providing more education, and help financially for lower income homes with spay neutering costs.
4. The Webster County Humane Society will assist in any way possible the members of the Webster County Commission in completing the new Webster County Shelter, it’s conception, and operation. This facility will provide shelter and care for the homeless and lost pets in Webster County, and help to find new homes for the adoptable ones.
